AASW Assessment Requirements
BSW-Equivalent Qualification
Your degree must be comparable to an Australian Bachelor or Master of Social Work and include: human behaviour and society, social work theories and frameworks, social policy, community development, and research methods.
Field Education / Practicum (1,000 Hours)
A minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised social work field education, completed as part of the qualification. Must involve direct practice and supervision by a qualified social worker or accepted equivalent.
Ethics & Professional Values
AASW evaluates that your social work degree incorporates professional ethics, values, and the AASW Code of Ethics-aligned curriculum content.
English Language Proficiency
Unless exempt, applicants must demonstrate English proficiency via IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, or OET. Exemptions may apply depending on the country and language of study.

- Course description / syllabus and confirmation of field education hours

Common Reasons AASW Applications Are Refused
Insufficient or Missing Placement Hours
AASW requires a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised field education. Applications with fewer hours or inadequate documentation will be refused.
Qualification Not Equivalent to Australian Social Work Degrees
Your qualification must be comparable to an Australian Bachelor or Master of Social Work in terms of curriculum, duration, and content.
Placement Supervision Not Meeting AASW Standards
